183. When Scents Become Memories: A Story of Season Edit SS25

183. När dofter blir minnen: En berättelse om Season Edit SS25

A scent of childhood summers

The warmth vibrates in the air, the sea breeze mixing with the scent of sun-warmed tomato stems and salt-sprayed cliffs. Someone is picking freshly picked apricots into a plastic bag at a vegetable stand, while the sun slowly sets behind white limestone houses. It's a scent of summer, of early mornings and late evenings, of a time when everything was simple ⎯ and every moment smelled of something we never forgot.

For Martin, the founder of Remoair, scent is more than just an experience. It's a time machine, a bridge between then and now, an invisible thread that connects memories and emotions. It was precisely this idea that sparked Season Edit ⎯ Spring & Summer 2025, a collection of scented candles, diffusers, and room sprays created to capture the essence of those Mediterranean summers.

"This is a journey back to the roots," says Martin with a smile, gently twirling a scented candle between his hands. "Remoair was born from a desire to encapsulate scents that mean something. And this collection… it's personal. It's my childhood, it's the Mediterranean of the 90s, it's the scents that shaped me."

After a year and a half of work, countless fragrance notes and memories transformed into fragrance oil, it is finally here. Five unique scents. Five windows to another time.

Back to the roots ⎯ where it all began

There are scents that never let go of us. They linger, hidden somewhere in the depths of memory, waiting for the right moment to awaken. For Martin, it was just such a scent ⎯ or rather a collection of them ⎯ that led to Season Edit – Spring & Summer 2025.

"I was perhaps eight or nine years old the first time I smelled that special combination of sun-warmed tomatoes, basil, and dry, hot stone. We were in Crete, and I remember helping my mom pick tomatoes directly from the vine at a greengrocer's, my fingers smelled for hours afterwards. It's such a simple moment, but it's ingrained in me. And the scent…" Martin leans back and smiles. "It's still just as strong today. It truly captures what I want with Remoair, you can immortalize memories with scents."

The Mediterranean in the 90s. There was a different pace then ⎯ no scrolling, no constant connection. At most, you had a Tamagotchi or GameBoy. Summer holidays felt endless, and days were filled with salt-sprayed dips, orange-scented afternoons, and evenings where the air vibrated with the song of cicadas. It was there, among Crete's rugged mountains, Rhodes' sun-drenched alleys, Sicily's citrus groves, and Mallorca's flourishing pergolas, that the seed for the collection was hidden.

"When I started Remoair, I wanted to capture scents that actually mean something. Not just 'a nice scent', but a scent that can create emotions, memories ⎯ almost like time travel. Everyone who has followed Remoair from the start knows how much my grandmother Astrid means. I can almost visit any memory with her just by smelling the first collection we created. And this new collection is exactly that. A journey backward, but also forward. Because I know that these scents will become someone else's future memories too."

It took over a year and a half to get the scents exactly right. The goal was not just to create scented candles for summer, but to recreate the feeling of a place, a time, a story. Five unique scents, each with its own soul, but together a whole that breathes the magic of the Mediterranean.

Five scents, five experiences

A scent is never just a scent. It is a touch of something lost, a whisper of a place we once loved, a feeling that lingers on the skin. In Season Edit – Spring & Summer 2025, the essence of the Mediterranean is captured through five carefully composed scents ⎯ each with its own story, its own soul.

"It was important that the scents didn't feel artificial or trendy, but genuine," Martin explains. "We wanted them to feel like they had always been there, like you're just rediscovering them when you light the candle or spray your room spray."

And that's exactly how it feels.

Tomato ⎯ sun-warmed stems and greenery
A sun-baked terrace, shaded by a grapevine. The scent of freshly picked tomatoes, still damp with morning dew. Green tomato stems meet basil and geranium, an explosion of freshness and summery greenery. It's a scent of childhood and slow afternoons in the Mediterranean heat.

Apricot ⎯ sweetness under the sun
You bite through the velvety skin, feel the juice run over your fingertips. Ripe apricot, sun-ripened peach, and a whisper of honey blend into a scent that is both fruity and golden. A tribute to the sunny orchards of the Mediterranean.

Orancia ⎯ citrus dreams and floral notes
Sicilian orange groves in the dawn light. Tangy citrus blends with floral hints of osmanthus, a scent as sweet as it is vibrant. Like drinking an ice-cold Zingo high up in the mountains on a warm day ⎯ pure joy of life in scent form.

Salvia ⎯ dried herbs and smoky notes
A medieval monastery garden, where the air is filled with dried white sage, warm earth, and a hint of incense. It's a scent of stillness, of old stone houses where scents have lingered in the walls for centuries. Dark, deep, and meditative.

Hibiscus ⎯ blooming summer
An explosion of color and scent ⎯ hibiscus in full bloom, enveloped in a whirlwind of bougainvillea and warm summer breezes. It's a moment of pure beauty, of sun-bleached facades and soft shadows. Sensual, rich, and unexpectedly electric.

"I wanted each scent to be able to stand on its own, but together they would create a whole ⎯ a scent journey through the Mediterranean," says Martin. "These are more than just summer scented candles. They are memories, carefully captured in beautiful white glass."

From idea to reality ⎯ the creation of Season Edit 2025

It starts with a feeling. A fragment of a memory, a place, a scent that lingers long after summer has ended. But how do you capture it in physical form?

"I've always seen scents as more than just notes on a perfume bottle," says Martin. "They are time capsules, they carry stories. When we started working on Season Edit, we wanted to create something that felt as real as the memories we started with ⎯ a collection that could transport you directly to the Mediterranean, no matter where you are."

It took time. A year and a half, countless tests, and an uncompromising pursuit of authenticity. Every scent in the collection needed to feel natural, as if it had always been there. The greenery in Tomato, the fruity sweetness in Apricot, the intensity of the flowers in Hibiscus ⎯ everything was a balancing act between nostalgia and the present. Remoair's philosophy is also that good scents should be present but should not dominate.

But a scent is never just a scent. It is part of a larger experience ⎯ and that's why the design was as important as the content.

The white glass with a silky matte finish ⎯ a tribute to Santorini's limestone facades, timeless and elegant.
The labels ⎯ each motif is uniquely designed to reflect the soul of the scent, a visual interpretation of its story.
Discovery Box ⎯ a miniature collection, five small scented candles in aluminum packaging, perfect for exploring or gifting.

"We wanted everything ⎯ from packaging to scent profile ⎯ to feel well-thought-out, genuine, and luxurious in that subtle way. Like a beautiful souvenir from a trip you never really want to leave. But still upholding our philosophy that our products should feel timeless. How long have the white limewashed houses symbolized the Mediterranean?"

Now, after many months of refinement, the collection is ready to take its place in homes around the world. But it still carries the same feeling as when it all began: a scent of childhood summers, a longing for the sea, a story of the past waiting to become a part of someone's future.

Scents that create new memories

Some places leave a mark on us. They become part of who we are, etched into our memories through sound, light, and above all, scent. And sometimes, it's the scent itself that takes us back.

"When we created this collection, it wasn't just about recreating my memories," says Martin. "It was about giving others the opportunity to create their own."

Because that's exactly what scents do. They become part of our lives ⎯ a scented candle lit on late summer evenings, a room spray that captures the feeling of open windows and soft breezes, diffusers that slowly spread an aura of sun-ripened fruit and blooming gardens. They are there in the background, subtle but powerful, ready one day to awaken something deep within us.

Season Edit – Spring & Summer 2025 is more than a collection. It's a journey back to the Mediterranean, but also forward ⎯ into new moments, new stories, new summers.

"I sometimes think of someone who, fifteen years from now, lights one of these candles and suddenly remembers this summer. How everything was right then. That's the feeling we wanted to capture. Scents that not only tell a story, but also create new ones."
