Tonka smells of soft warmth with a hint of darkness at its base. The tonka bean is rich and round, almost creamy, but is reined in by the dry smokiness of guaiac wood and a smooth, suede-like softness. White heliotrope adds a powdery light that gives the fragrance a sensual depth without becoming sweet.

The feeling is a guilty pleasure. Something you know you don't need, but still want to linger in. A scented candle in recycled tin that feels intimate, safe, and a little too close ⎯ warm without being heavy, soft without being timid.

Fragrance notes

Tonka has long been included in several of our fragrances, but it was only when a friend of mine brought his favorite perfume in his bag. A scent that is strongly associated with her. I got a dab on a napkin which I then carried around in my wallet for weeks. Now the fragrance is part of the range and the inspiration comes from my friend.

Top notes:

A spicy start with notes of lavender and cinnamon opens the fragrance. You are greeted by heliotrope before being led further into the fragrance.

Heart notes:

The heart is filled with exciting notes from cyperus, myrrh and coda from guaiac wood (Palo Santo).

Base notes:

The base breathes luxury with notes reminiscent of vanilla from the tonka bean. Amber and moss create a broad base.

Fragrance profile

Spicy

Spicy scents exude a sophisticated warmth and a sensual intensity that instantly gives a room character and depth. This profile often builds on a rich base of oriental elements such as cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom, which not infrequently meets the fiery sharpness of black pepper or ginger. It is an embracing scent category that creates a cozy atmosphere, perfect for adding an exotic undertone and timeless elegance to cool evenings and social gatherings.

Avoid drafts

Candles do not fare well in drafts, so avoid placing your candle by an open window or near a heat source. Also remember to keep candles away from flammable materials.

Let the candle burn

Both the first time and thereafter when you light your candle, the wax should melt all the way to the edge. After that, about 3-5 hours at a time is a suitable duration.
