040. Are scented candles and scented sticks dangerous?

040. Är doftljus och doftpinnar farliga?

What exactly is the definition of dangerous? We mean that the amount you consume can be more dangerous than what you consume under normal conditions. In too large quantities, most things can be dangerous. Just look at food, if you eat too much, you can suffer from deadly diseases.

But if we stay within the framework of lighting candles at home as a normal candle enthusiast (i.e., occasionally a few times a week). And living with diffusers in almost every room of the house. Then we come to the next question, what do the scented candles and diffusers contain?

This was one of the questions Martin faced when creating all the scent products. Upon closer investigation, it turned out that many candles actually release dangerous toxins into the air that we then inhale. Carcinogenic substances were also found in some commercial candles – it should be added that they were within the EU's limit values. But come on! CARCINOGENIC substances.

That's why Remoair's products don't smell so strong

Have you had a candle or scent at home that gave you a headache? It could be linked to phthalates and other substances in the product you are using. During combustion or use, substances are released that can react with the air and can be converted into toxins such as formaldehyde and carbon dioxide.

Carbon dioxide is directly linked to whether you burn candles made of paraffin. Paraffin is made from crude oil, which is converted into carbon dioxide during combustion. Some types of dyes in candles are also made with paraffin.

When we make our selection of ingredients, we are careful to ensure that we do not use phthalates. We completely reject carcinogenic substances, even if they account for 0.005% of a scent. That's out of the question. Our strict selection process, coupled with how we ourselves want the scent products to smell, results in mild scents.

Answer to the question: YES - there are candles and diffusers that are toxic. BUT! Fortunately, there are also scent products like ours that are carefully controlled and safe to use in the home without being dangerous to you.
